The phrase "advertising is not cool" was taken by me from the Russian translation of the film "Social Network" that made a lot of noise about the greatest breakthrough of the last decade - the creation of social networks. That's what the actor who played Mark Zuckerberg said: "Facebook is cool, this is its main feature, and you do not have to kill it with advertising, because advertising is not cool." 

When I hear the word "advertising" - I come to mind an interesting scene, which I saw a long time ago in the comedy show. On TV the advertisement of the Baskin-Robbins cafe network was extremely popular and everyone was horribly tired of a huge ice cream man running around the TV screen, shouting: "Come to Cafe Baskin-Robbins!". So this very ice-cream man runs out onto the stage in comedy show with all the familiar screams and one of the people standing there says: "And now we will do what every TV viewer dreams about in secret!" "That's right - come to Cafe Baskin-Robbins! "- cries out the restless ice cream - and here those who stand on the stage begin to batter this advertiser from the bottom of the heart! It is about this, not about coming to a cafe - every TV viewer dreams. God forbid, do not think that I'm against a particular cafe - I do not like advertising in principle. It is imperfect in its very nature. This crutch, which is used, until people come up with something more effective. And this most "more effective" is just around the corner. 

"What is the relation of advertising to scientific and technical progress, which is the main purpose of my description?" - you ask. At the moment, the most direct. And it's not even that advertising helps sell the fruits of this very progress. Advertising formed the world's largest Internet companies. Advertising has created a "search", advertising has created "social networks" - it is advertising. If somewhere now the future is created, then in such companies as Yandex and Google, Facebook and VKontakte. What kind of advertising is this? Let's consider the issue in more detail. 

The first step in the way of advertising service to progress was really "search" and advertising there was "contextual", i.e. Depending on the user's request, there were links to syntactically similar sponsored links. And on clicks on these links Google and Yandex made their billions. Do not blame me strictly, that I do not adhere to the greatest generality of the exposition, but I cite specific examples and specific figures, it just seems to me that it will be clearer. I also do not give references to sources, I just saw and collected these data in dozens of articles and now I do not remember where and what exactly I read. So, how much are they worth and how much do they earn - are these corporations generated by advertisement? The value of Google's shares exceeds $ 100 billion, and the annual net profit from advertising is about $ 5 billion. The cost of Yandex shares at a recent IPO was about $ 13 billion, and the annual advertising revenue is $ 350-400 million. This is a lot, you will agree. This is enough to create the future in the way it is creating now. 

And 7 years ago, everyone was sure that it was "search" that creates the future. And there can hardly be "suddenly" something that will become more meaningful and in some way more effective. Hardly something can compare to the scale of money, ideas, people involved ... But then, like a bolt from the blue, Mark Zuckerberg and his "social network" appear. What is so innovative about it? Much, very much written about social networks. But I want to consider them in connection with the "contextual" advertising that has already fmiliar to us. What can be contextual advertising on the social network, because there is no search for goods? But A contextual advertising exist! In the context of what is it going? Of course, in the context of the user profile description. The potential of this idea is not fully understood until now. The main idea is that the user is no longer looking for the goods - the product suitable for him is looking for the user himself, automatically. I noticed that people just starting to master the Internet do not know how to make queries to search engines to find what they need. Because it is difficult. Because even this is a small art. Because in the end, "you have to think" when you are making a request, and thinking is hard work. Another thing is that you once describe yourself in the profile of a social network and it itself is looking for you for something that might seem interesting to you. Thus, social networks are a kind of "search", but only a "new generation" (but so far very very primitive). 

Let's turn on our imagination and imagine that a person can describe himself in more detail than contact information, interests and hobbies. As much detail as our family and friends know us. And imagine an already existing search engine so intelligent that it will continually analyze our profiles and advise us with more and more accuracy the goods and services that suit us. Presented?..................................... Well done. 

And even after all this (which else really is not), I say - advertising is not cool. And that's why. Social networks have brought much more important for a person than a convenient means for communication or effective automatic search of advertising. They opened the way to a much more important phenomenon. Let me give a few figures to begin with. Let's see how much the above social networks earn? Facebook 400-500 million dollars a year, VKontakte - 100-120 million dollars a year. Ie Each user roughly brings his social network 1 dollar per year net profit. Just doing nothing. Just through advertising. How much do our prophets of the future cost? Facebook about 50 billion dollars (hypothetically at the moment), Contact about $ 2 billion (hypothetically at the moment). If you compare these figures with the numbers of search engines - the figures are similar. The order of the numbers is approximately the same. But now let's ask ourselves a lot of this or a little - again? And I'll venture to say now - it's not enough. I'm not an idealist, a man quite earthly. I think that this is not enough. All these Internet companies: "searches" and "social networks" are cooked in their own juice. They do not go beyond advertising and the Internet. Although Google is very trying to create something completely new (voice search, three-dimensional maps of the world, cloud operating systems). But these attempts are just the beginning. 

Why is this not enough? Because such research as the creation of new types of weapons, space, development of other planets (the base on the Moon, flight to Mars), the victory over deadly diseases and the cultivation of new organs in place of old ones, research in the field of thermonuclear energy - for these corporations are too hard. Because they are tied up in advertising. And the world market of advertising is limited in principle. And this border is not so high - I think a maximum of several tens of billions of dollars a year at all. That's why advertising is not cool. And what then is "cool"? I will give one example, exactly one, but very revealing. Apple Corporation does not engage in advertising as a business at all, it is not a social network. But the projected net profit for 2011 is 30 billion dollars - that is, 6 times more than Google earns. 6 times !!! I would even say that the entire global advertising market in a sense with one Apple is comparable. The thing is that their business is not advertising - but the creation of new technologies. This is their business, not a by-product of their activities. This is their zest. By creating tablet computers and smartphones, they turned the world around. They made the mechanisms of working with information more convenient. They created "new technologies" - and this, I believe, is "cool". 

And now about the main thing - we will return to social networks. The robot analyzer, of course, can analyze profiles and give advertising to people. But let's go a little further in our dreams. Imagine that really smart people described in their profiles not only their hobbies and everyday needs. They also wrote about what they know in science. How far advanced in their studies. But they did this description uniformly. In the same unified, personal form, if you like. And now the robot analyzer will not only advertise, but compare the scientific ideas of different people, introduce these people among themselves. Help them to exchange ideas themselves. Thus, in fact, the robot will be the main scientist on the planet, suggesting ideas to those who really need them. Scientific progress will accelerate in an unimaginable number of times and will not be limited to anything more (like as income from it). Because if advertising is in the framework of progress, then the progress itself has no framework. And he brings revenues much more than advertising. That's why advertising is not cool. 

Article 2019, what is the world now? 

I am happy to say that much is happening in what I said: "cool" - "do not clicking on advertising," "cool" - "is to create new breakthrough technologies" - and the brightest example of this is Elon Mask.

And now households can be completely autonomous in any region of the Earth, where there is a lot of sunlight. 

This is already exist, it's already here! 

But what awaits us very soon? What is unrelenting - the performance after the performance - says Elon Mask himself? What is he constantly thinking about? Do you hear him, people ??? 

He screams, he calls, he exclaims about the coming artificial intelligence! He is afraid of him and trembles before him! 

Once again - it's not anyone who screams, but it is Elon Mask! A man who proved that his words turn into deeds! 

And right now the technology Pangeya is launched! Technology, which was only thought 6 years ago! And here she is, she is! She, of course, is still very young and fragile. Of course, it needs dissemination, study and refinement - but it is already with us. This future artificial mind does not yet know how to speak, it has no mouth and no eyes. Фраза «реклама — это не круто» взята мною из русскоязычного перевода наделавшего много шума фильма «Социальная сеть» про величайший прорыв последнего десятилетия — создание социальных сетей. Именно так говорил актёр, играющий роль Марка Цукерберга: «Facebook — это круто, в этом его главная фишка, и не надо убивать его рекламой, потому что реклама — это не круто». 

Когда я слышу слово "реклама" — мне приходит на ум интересная сцена, которую я давным-давно видел в КВН. По телевизору тогда крайне популярным была реклама сети кафе Baskin-Robbins и всем до жути надоел бегающий по экрану телевизора огромный человек-мороженное, кричащий: «Приходите в кафе Baskin-Robbins!» . Так вот выбегает этот самый человек-мороженное на сцену в КВН со всем знакомым криком и один из стоящих там людей говорит: «А сейчас мы сделаем то, о чём в тайне мечтает каждый телезритель!» «Правильно — приходите в кафе Baskin-Robbins!» — кричит неугомонное мороженное — и тут стоящие на сцене начинают метелить этого рекламщика от всей души! Именно об этом, а не о том, чтобы прийти в кафе — мечтает каждый телезритель. Боже упаси, не подумайте, что я против конкретно взятого кафе — меня не устраивает реклама в принципе. Она несовершенна в самой своей природе. Это костыль, которым пользуются, пока не придумают чего-то более эффективного. А это самое «более эффективное» уже не за горами. 

«Какое отношение имеет реклама к научно-техническому прогрессу, который и является главной целью моего описания?» — спросите Вы. На данный момент самое прямое. И дело даже не в том, что реклама помогает продавать плоды этого самого прогресса. Реклама сформировала крупнейшие мировые интернет-компании. Реклама создала «поиск», реклама создала «социальные сети» — именно она, реклама. Если где-то и создаётся сейчас будущее, то в таких компаниях как Яндекс и Google, Facebook и В Контакте. Что же это за реклама такая? Давайте рассмотрим вопрос поподробнее. 

Первым шагом на пути служения рекламы прогрессу по-настоящему стал «поиск» и реклама там была «контекстная», т.е. в зависимости от вбиваемого пользователем запроса — выпадали ссылки на синтаксически схожие с запросом рекламные ссылки. И на кликах по этим ссылкам Google и Яндекс сделали свои миллиарды. Не вините меня строго, что я не придерживаюсь наибольшей общности изложения, а привожу частные примеры и конкретные цифры, просто мне кажется так будет понятнее. Я так же не даю ссылок на источники, просто я видел и собирал эти данные в десятках статей и уж сейчас не упомню где и что именно прочитал. Итак, сколько же они стоят и сколько же они зарабатывают — эти рекламой порождённые корпорации? Стоимость акций компании Google превышает 100 млрд долларов, а годовая чистая прибыль от рекламы около 5 млрд долларов. Стоимость акций Яндекс на прошедшем недавно IPO составила около 13 млрд долларов, а годовой доход от рекламы — 350-400 млн долларов. Это очень много, согласитесь. Этого достаточно, чтобы создавать будущее таким образом, как это происходит сейчас. 

И ещё 7 лет назад все были уверены, что именно «поиск» создаёт будущее. И вряд ли может появиться «вдруг» что-то, что станет более значимым и в чём-то более эффективным. Вряд ли что-то может сравниться по масштабу денег, идей, вовлечённых людей... Но тут как гром среди ясного неба грянул Марк Цукерберг и его «социальная сеть». Что же в ней такого новаторского? Многое, очень многое написали о социальных сетях. Но я хочу рассмотреть их в связи с набившей нам уже оскомину «контекстной» рекламой. Какая может быть контекстная реклама в социальной сети, ведь там нет поиска по товарам? А контекстная реклама есть! В контексте чего же она идёт? Ну конечно в контексте описания профиля пользователя. Потенциал этой идеи не понят всецело до сих пор. Главная мысль в том, что пользователь больше не ищет товар — подходящий ему товар ищет пользователя сам, автоматически. Я заметил, что люди только начинающие осваивать интернет совершенно не умеют составлять запросы к поисковикам, чтобы найти то, что им нужно. Потому что это трудно. Потому даже, что это небольшое искусство. Потому что в конце концов «надо думать» когда составляешь запрос, а думать — тяжёлый труд. Другое дело, что Вы один раз описываете себя в профиле социальной сети и она сама ищет для Вас то, что может показаться Вам интересным. Таким образом социальные сети — это своего рода тот же «поиск», но только «нового поколения» (однако пока очень и очень примитивный). 

Давайте включим нашу фантазию и представим себе, что человек может описать себя гораздо более подробно, чем контактные данные, интересы и увлечения. Настолько подробно, насколько нас знают наши близкие и друзья. И представим себе уже существующую поисковую машину настолько умную, что она беспрестанно будет анализировать наши профили и советовать нам со всё большей точностью подходящие нам товары и услуги. Представили?..................................... Молодцы. 

И даже после всего этого (чего ещё толком-то и нет) я утверждаю — реклама это не круто. И вот почему. Социальные сети привнесли гораздо более важное для человека, чем удобное средство для коммуникации или эффективного автоматического поиска рекламы. Они открыли дорогу куда более важному явлению. Позвольте приведу несколько цифр для начала. Давайте посмотрим — сколько зарабатывают вышеупомянутые социальные сети? Facebook 400-500 миллионов долларов в год, Контакт — 100-120 миллионов долларов в год. т. е. Каждый пользователь примерно приносит своей социальной сети 1 доллар в год чистой прибыли. Просто ничего не делая. Просто через рекламу. Сколько стоят наши пророки будущего? Хотя Google очень пытается создать что-то совершенно новое (голосовой поиск, трёхмерные карты мира, облачные операционные системы). Но эти попытки лишь начало. 

Почему этого мало? Потому что такие исследования, как создание новых видов вооружений, космос, освоение других планет (база на Луне, полёт на Марс), победа над смертельными заболеваниями и выращивание новых органов взамен старых, исследования в области термоядерной энергетики — этим корпорациям не по зубам. Потому что они завязаны на рекламе. А мировой рынок рекламы ограничен в принципе. И граница эта не такая уж высокая — думаю максимум несколько десятков миллиардов долларов в год на всех. Вот почему реклама это не круто. А что же тогда «круто»? Приведу один пример, ровно один, но очень показательный. Корпорация Apple, рекламой как бизнесом не занимается вообще, социальной сетью не является. Но прогнозируемая чистая прибыль на 2011 год составляет 30 млрд долларов — т.е. в 6 раз больше, чем зарабатывает Google. В 6 раз!!! Я бы даже сказал, что весь мировой рынок рекламы в каком-то смысле с одним Apple — ом и сопоставим. Всё дело в том, что их бизнес не реклама — а создание новых технологий. Это их бизнес, а не побочный продукт их деятельности. Это их фишка. Создав планшетные компьютеры и смартфоны они перевернули мир. Они сделали более удобными сами механизмы работы с информацией. Они создали «новые технологии» — и именно это, я считаю, и есть «круто». 

А теперь о главном — вернёмся к социальным сетям. Робот-анализатор, конечно, может анализировать профили и подсовывать людям рекламу. Но давайте пойдём чуть-чуть дальше в наших мечтах. Представьте себе, что по-настоящему умные люди описали в своих профилях не только свои хобби и бытовые потребности. Они еще написали о том, что они знают в науке. Как далеко продвинулись в своих исследованиях. Но сделали они это описание единообразно. В одинаковой, унифицированной, анкетной если угодно форме. И вот робот-анализатор будет подсовывать уже не только рекламу, а сравнивать научные идеи разных людей, знакомить этих людей между собой. Помогать им обменяться самими идеями. Таким образом по сути робот и будет главным учёным на планете, подсказывая идеи тем, кто в них действительно нуждается. Научный прогресс ускорится в невообразимое количество раз и не будет ограничен больше ничем (как и доходы от него). Потому что если реклама находится в рамках прогресса, то у самого прогресса рамок нет. А доходы он приносит куда большие, чем реклама. Вот почему реклама — это не круто. 

Статья 2017 года, каков мир теперь 

Я рад констатировать, что происходит во многом то, что я и говорил: “круто” - “не кликать по рекламе”, “круто” - “создавать новые прорывные технологии” - и ярчайший пример этого Илон Маск. 

Он наконец доработал свои космические ракеты, электромобили и солнечные крыши до того состояния, что ими восхищается весь мир! Он меняет мир технологиями - так, как оно должно быть. Меняет мир физически. 

И вот уже не за горами реальные полеты на Марс на многоразовых ракетах. 

И вот уже не за горами первый триллиардер планеты - Илон Маск. 

И вот совсем близко глобальная спутниковая группировка доступного космического интернета. 

И вот уже по дорогам городов ездят самые настоящие роботы, автомобили в разы более безопасные и надежные, чем живые водители. И что особенно важно - абсолютно чистые и тихие автомобили. 

И вот уже домохозяйства могут быть полностью автономными в любом регионе Земли, где достаточно много солнечного света. 

Это уже есть, это уже здесь! 

Но что ждет нас совсем скоро? О чем неустанно - выступление за выступлением - твердит сам Илон Маск? О чем он постоянно думает? Вы его слышите, люди??? 

Он кричит, он зовет, он восклицает о грядущем искусственном интеллекте! Он боится его и трепещет перед ним! 

Еще раз - об этом кричит не кто-нибудь, а Илон Маск! Человек, доказавший, что его слова превращаются в дела! 

И именно сейчас запущена в работу технология Pangeya! Технология, которая 6 лет назад только задумывалась! И вот она здесь, она есть! Она, конечно еще очень молодая и неокрепшая. Or even elephants can move things consciously to stand on them and get high situated food. 

And pigs in general have mastered work with a computer mouse in the form of a joystick using their piglet and with the help of joystick recognises geometric figures on the screen. 

Many people can count (for example, dogs up to 5), bees or horses. 

And some have even such features of intelligence that a person could envy: for example, dolphins has two hemisphere of the brain, and when one of them sleeps, the second is always awake. 

Or a bat that emits ultrasonic waves in flight and, analyzing their reflection, hunts in this way. 

But for all, without exception, higher animals endowed with sight, there is an absolutely fantastic ability that most researchers do not pay due attention - it's the ability to recognize images. Animals see the world not as noise from color and light, but as a set of individual objects endowed with properties. 

To understand how important this is, consider the problem of pattern recognition. As you know, it has already been possible to write largely effective programs for recognizing images and sounds using neural networks. But all these programs need millions of learning attempts before they recognize and distinguish, for example, the face of one person from another. All of them study mostly haphazardly, chaotically and very, very long and very, very inefficiently. 

Another thing animals - most of the higher animals, for example, a dog, once it is enough to see a person - and she can remember his face for life and always distinguish from other people. 

Those. Once again the dog has one attempt - modern software neural networks have millions of attempts. 

In the brain of higher animals, the most powerful algorithms for comparing images and separating some objects of the surrounding world from others have been sewn up from birth. 

What does a dog know how to do comparing with such a great difficulty modern smart algorithms? The dog sees the face not as a noise from color and light, but as a set of objects: the mouth, eyes, hair, nose. And she knows the features of these objects in some people and knows how to distinguish them from other people very effectively and quickly.

Другое дело животные - большинству высших животных, например, собаке, один раз достаточно увидеть человека - и она может запомнить его лицо на всю жизнь и всегда отличать от других людей. 

Т.е. еще раз у собаки одна попытка - у современных программных нейронных сетей - миллионы попыток. 

В мозг высших животных уже от рождения зашиты мощнейшие алгоритмы сравнения образов и отделения одних объектов окружающего мира от других. 

Что же такого умеет собака, с чем с таким большим трудом справляются современные умные алгоритмы? Собака видит лицо не как шум из цвета и света, а как набор объектов: рот, глаза, волосы, нос. И она знает особенности этих объектов у одних людей и умеет их отличать от других людей очень эффективно и быстро.
